Psychiatric Consultation

The Elizabeth Clinic has a well-respected team of adult psychiatrists, each of whom bring significant expertise and experience to their work. The role of the psychiatrist is to prevent, assess and management mental, emotional and behavioural disorders or distress, using a wide variety of skills and interventions. A patient does not need to be unwell or have a history of a mental health disorder, to benefit from a psychiatric assessment.

All of our psychiatrists see much more than the diagnosis a patient may present with. They endeavour to understand the whole person – their beliefs, their social connections, their interests and work and what they would like to have incorporated into their treatment. They work collaboratively with each patient and their support people, and as such do not offer short appointments and some of the assessment processes need more than one appointment.

Our psychiatrists have interests in perinatal and infant mental health, womens’ mental health, psychotherapy, adult ADHD, general adult psychiatry and some capacity to work with youth and younger adults. There may be limited availability for some mental health disorders due to the requirement to balance workloads and ensure each patient benefits from expert care.
We aim to provide care that is sensitive to an individual’s needs and work within a trauma informed framework. Our psychiatrists work collaboratively with psychologists, other allied health clinicians, GPs and our psychiatric colleagues.

SENIOR PSYCHIATRIST - CO-DIRECTOR

MBBS FRANZP Adult Cert.

Julia Feutrill is a locally adult trained psychiatrist with extensive experience in perinatal, infant and womens’ mental health. She works with women with hormonal issues that impact on their mental health, men and women considering pregnancy, or struggling with sub fertility or loss, and those already on the way to being a parent. She loves working with families long term and travelling alongside them to support them throughout their years of parenting. Some of her patients and their families have been with her now for more than 10 years.

Dr Feutrill aims to provide individualised comprehensive care, to not only treat mental health disorder, but to help each patient reach their potential in life, love and work. Excellent care is not just about medication. In fact, medication is only one small part of being well. Dr Feutrill works with other care providers, family members and other important supports, to create the ‘village’ that we all need to be healthy and happy. Dr Feutrill works closely with many of the obstetric providers in WA and can often support families to negotiate their way through the obstetric process.
